Senior Rep Trey Stewart

Trey is one of my senior reps from Covington High School....the same high school that I graduated from. (Only 15 years ago. But, that's another blog.) Trey is in the band and plays the drums....just like I did in high school. And he is in Chef Training at the JVS. So cool!

Trey, his mom, and I met up a couple weeks ago to get his senior session done. I had scouted out a couple (ok, maybe more than "a couple") of great places and was so stoked to see them in his session. I absolutely love it when my clients are willing to do whatever I ask of them to get a good shot. Trey was at my mercy and, as long as there wasn't any bird poop, was willing to do anything I asked him to do.
Trey and I are pretty much alike on a few things. Not only do we love the drums and the marching band, but we aren't really good at serious looks. It's so hard for me to "go serious" when I want to smile. I just can't do it. I usually end up laughing hysterically. I have to think about my cat dieing, or someone eating the last ice cream sandwich.

I happened to catch him in action....but he still could nail the serious look. Nice work, Trey. Oh, yes. Nailed it.
On a complete random side note, I usually feel bad about showing up for a session in my ball hat and flip-flops. Sometimes I feel like I should look more professional. But then, other times, I realize that I dress down for a reason. I have yet to do a session where I'm not rolling around on the ground, jumping ontop of dumpsters, or sitting in gravel. And during Trey's session I TRIED to miss a huge mud puddle, but missed.

So, don't feel offended when I show up in old clothes...chances are I'm just taking precautionary measures for my coordination and my willingness to get a great shot. =)

The Meyer Family.

As promised, here's the Meyer family. Well...part of it at least.

Mandi and I have been friends for what seems like eons. Martha introduced us many years ago, and we've been friends ever since.

Naturally, I was thrilled at the opportunity to capture her little family in an October session. Mandi has an adorable daughter who happens to be a senior.....so we focused on her for part of the session.

Tough job, right??

Focusing on Kayla was the easy part. Look at those eyes (unaltered in Photoshop, too, by the way). One word. Gorgeous.

There are times when I am processing my images and become speechless at the beauty. Not so much the images themselves, but the people in them. I bet I sat at my computer for a half hour trying to figure out something creative and whitty to say. But I can't think of one thing. This girl is incredibly beautiful and the images speak for themselves.

Kinda sickening, huh?

Big, bad, Cody

A couple of weeks ago, I went back to Ault Park for another shoot. My last session was for a couple of cute kids, and this time it was for my handsome senior, Cody.

Cody plays on the varsity football and baseball teams for the Bethel Tate Tigers. Quite the sports enthusiast, no doubt. But he also happens to be this super-cute, GQ-esque man. Just look at him workin' "the smirk" here:

Helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooo blue eyes. AYKM!??

There's just something about a man in a suit makes me swoon. Of course, it does help when they are wearing an Ohio State Buckeyes tie.

Cody, I had an absolute blast with you, Lacey, and the rest of your crew. (Hi Jill! Hi Dottie! Hi Staci!) Best of luck to you and the rest of your senior year at BT!!

GO TIGERS!

Edit: For those that have asked, the music in the slideshow is from a good friend of mine. You can check out more of his work here. A little fact about Ward and I -- we were Homecoming King and Queen together our senior year. And he's lucky I can't find the picture of it....

Thanks, Ward!

Trying something new...

Ok, so I've been tossing around the idea of slideshows for presenting clients their gallery in addition to the online gallery I already publish for them.

It just so happens that Danielle was the lucky guinea pig...metaphorically speaking, of course....

I'm not for sure if I'll keep it, but for now, I'm liking it.

Indy again....with the gorgeous Danielle

When I shot Rhea's pictures in Indy, her best friend Danielle came along with us on the shoot. 2 days after I got back to OH, Danielle contacted me and asked me to come back to shoot her senior pictures. Are you kidding me!??? Of course!!! I was super excited!

So, on Saturday, I headed back to Indy to meet up with Danielle (and Rhea and her Mom) at Southeastway Park -- which was her 'home base' for cross country. It's so neat when my clients include places of significance in their shoot. It makes me feel like they're letting me in on this little secret that no one else gets told.

Gorgeous girl! She has this innate, sweet, personality that just oozes from her. She's bubbly and absolutely hilarious. And her beautiful red hair in these voluptuous locks....so jealous!

From there we went back to the Lilly House -- which was one of the places we went to with Rhea. The weather could've been a little more cooperative, but I don't think I'll complain:

Danielle, thank you for giving me the opportunity to capture your senior pictures! I had an absolute blast with you and the gang (and the Pussy Willows!) and can't wait to share the rest with you!!

Catching up

Ok....so as promised, I have some making up to do.

This weekend was jam-packed with all kinds of deliciousness. As ironic as it might be, all of my plans for Saturday fell through, so Chris and I were able to spend a much deserved day doing....well, whateverintheheck we wanted --and by that I mean mowing the grass. Which never happens, by the way (the days with no plans, not mowing the grass). In fact, it so rarely happens that we had that feeling like we were forgetting something. You know that feeling when you've driven to a store, gone in and shopped, and as you're checking out, digging thru your purse, you realilze that you've locked your keys in the car? Yeah, that feeling. THAT was Saturday.

So, anyway, last week my best friend asked me to design her step-daughter's graduation open house invitations. My lovely mailman delivered these on Saturday:

And then on Sunday, I had another shoot with one of my favorite clients EVER! This is the 4th shoot I've done for Miss Amanda and have a feeling it won't be our last. I'm not even halfway thru editing her images, but I had to post a quick peek:

You might recognize Harley (the cute little lady on the left) from here. Yes, she was in their wedding....and looked stunning in pearls.

After their shoot, I went to hang out with my Aunt Leah and her family for her husband, Mike's, birthday. Her grandson, Lucas, turned one the day before, and I couldn't resist. But seriously, with eyes this big, what was I suppose to do?? Plus, it didn't help that he was a COMPLETE hambone in front of the camera. He literally smiled and posed the entire time I was focused on him. Too cute for his own good!

PS. I really don't miss that whole "teething" stage.

There is beautiful....

...and then there is this.

My senior shoot on Saturday with Rhea was absolutely perfect. The weather was perfect, the locations were perfect, my assistant was perfect (my BFF, Mart).....all of it was just perfect. Of course, my job is a whole lot easier when your subject is this gorgeous!

This was the first time I've done a senior shoot and couldn't STOP shooting. I took almost 350 pictures....which has made my editing process a nightmare. How do you choose your favorites when you love almost every single image?!?!

This shoot was done in Indianapolis....which is where my best friend (and my senior) live. I've been to Indy more times than I can count, so I had a few ideas about where I wanted to shoot. There's an area just outside of Indy called Broad Ripple. It's an artsy town that has it's own character. Lots of cool little shops, alleys, old buildings.

I'm not sure what my obsession is with graffiti but I love it. Kinda like tattoos...there is just something about the art part of it that draws me into it. I KNEW I had to take Rhea there.

While we were in the alley shooting the graffiti shots, which by the way stunk like the bottom of a thousand dumpsters, an old Nova rolled thru into an automotive garage just down from where we were shooting. My creativity kicked into overdrive and I had to try to get a few shots with Rhea in that car. So, I worked my mojo and viola!

During our little Broad Ripple excursion, we crossed paths with this kick-ass photographer named Mayor Greg -- who also owned/ran an awesome vinyl record and CD shop (which we also shot in front of) -- Mayor Greg was also kind enough to share some of his top-secret super-cool locations with me. One of them was this blue building with a red and yellow brick back....

Rhea, I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! I had an incredible time with you!

I'm not even halfway thru this session, but HAD to share....I'll be sure to post a few more when I get thru them!!

New Senior

Ok, so this one is a little overdue. I shot this senior at the beginning of November.

Hard to believe I used to babysit this beauty along with her little brother. Now she's all grown up and absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. She has red hair to die for and the most piercing green eyes.

I had a hard time picking out a favorite image from our shoot...so I picked 5.

I think if I had to pick just *one*, I'd have to go with this last one.
